Meet our Crew

Ben

United States Coast Guard licensed captain

Ben is the owner of Reel Action Charters and works very diligently to ensure the satisfaction of his customers. Ben has worked up and down the East Coast working boats as a mate. During that time he worked with many different captains who had many different fishing styles, being exposed to all the different styles has greatly helped him to have very productive charters even when the fishing is slow. Ben looks forward to serving his customers with his unsurpassed attention to detail.

Jeff

United States Coast Guard licensed captain

Jeff joined the Reel Action crew in 2003. His knowledge of Casco Bay and the Gulf of Maine are second to none. His years’ of commercial fishing gives him a great understanding of striper migration during the ever changing tide and season. Jeff has written many fishing reports that where published in The Fisherman that provided many anglers with none stop striper action. During the time that Jeff is not aboard he manages the Port Harbor Tackle shop and is always looking for new techniques to land more trophy stripers.

Matt

Crew Foremen & United States Coast Guard licensed captain

Matt joined Reel Action during the 2002 season after he spent three years in the Coast Guard. His experiences on the water are quite remarkable and he looks forward to sharing some of them with you. Matt has commercially fished for Bluefin tuna for 10 years. During that time it was not uncommon for him to land 10 to 15 giants in a season. Matt always looks to our charters with great excitement.

During the 2004 season Matt took charge of the boat and led Reel Action to our best season ever. Matt's performance aboard Reel Action is second to none in the charter industry. Matt will be back for the 2008 season and will lead the Reel Action crew with unsurpassed attention to details.

Jared

First Mate & United States Coast Guard licensed captain

Jared joined Reel Action during the 2004 season. Jared quickly moved up the ranks with his outgoing personality and his commitment to  perfection. Jarred will be testing for his Captains licenses during the 2005 Fall and will be an up coming charter boat captain in the near future. Jared will be the first mate this season and will surely impress all of our guest. Jared displays great passion for fishing and attention to detail, which makes him a perfect addition to the Reel Action crew.

Joe

First Mate & Captain

Joe had a great 2005 season. His hard work and detication greatly help the Reel Action crew to have an excelent year. Joe will be studying for his captain licences during the winter under the close eye of Captain Ben. In the near future, Joe will be working aboard Reel Action not as a mate, but as a Captain.

Tim

Mate

Tim joined the Reel Action crew during the 2005 season. Tim had just moved here from Pennsylvania and was always around to lend a hand when Reel Action returned from charters.Tim always tells the crew of these 60lbs fresh water stripers that he caught back at home. Once Capt Ben heard this "story" he knew he was a fisherman at heart and gave Tim a shot to prove if he had what it takes to become a mate aboard Reel Action. Tim was a great addition to the crew and we look forward to having him back for the 2009 season. Capt. Ben still has yet to see any photos of the 60lbs striper.
